A Face to Drink to

My mom called me today to let me know that my Uncle Hugh (Dad's stepbrother) called her to say that his son Nathan Roberson had just called him with news that he just had to share. Nathan is in Jacksonville and was in a store walking around and noticed a picture on a soda bottle that caught his eye. He looked at it and said, "Hey, that looks just like Conner Teague." Well, he got to looking closer and sure enough, the picture on the front of the Jones Co. Soda bottle was of Conner.

The picture seen here is of what the label looks like. I pulled the label from their website after extensive searching of their archive of labels they release several times a month. Conner's label came out in Sep. '04. So, I find it wild that Nathan found a bottle of something just this week with one of those labels on it. I think I might steer away from drinking that bottle of soda! I wonder how often Jones reuses/reprints past labels for printing? Anyway, the most remarkable thing we thought was that not onl was he on a label, it was on a bottle in Jacksonville, FL that one of our family members found unwittingly in a store! So cool!

Anyway, about the photo...well, it was actually one of MY photos of Conner, and not one Ashley took. She submitted it, obviously back in 2004 sometime and they did indeed put it on a bottle and she just never knew. The picture is one of my best photos I've ever taken and by far one of the best pictures of Conner ever taken. It has such a great mood and lighting and of course, subject! In color it actually looks better I think, but in black and white, the textures of the image seem to come through quite remarkably. See the original picture below.

Yeah...so now I have a record of getting 2 different pictures on Jones Soda labels and neither one of them are ones I took. Go figure.

It was a picture Richard took of his niece on their swingset when his mom first got her digital Canon SLR. One of mom's students or something like that found it at a gas station around here.

I still love this picture of Conner. The whole sequence of events still seem so unlikely. Amazing!
